Man Utd transfer news: Reds Devils want £100m Benfica wonderkid Joao Felix
Manchester United are eyeing a summer swoop for Benfica's teenage star Joao Felix - who is being described as "the next Deco".
The Portuguese club would want around
£100million for the 19-year-old playmaker,
but United have not been put off by the
price tag, with scouts having watched him
several times this season.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has
been making a case to be given the top job
at Manchester United beyond the end of
the season, and is looking to build for the
future at Old Trafford.
He had Joao Felix watched the weekend
before last, and after positive reports the
Red Devils are looking to make their move
this summer.
An Old Trafford source told the Sun: “The
club went to see Felix in action and it was
all positive. He is seen as a real talent.
“He is definitely someone who is
increasingly of interest. He is a clever
playmaker and in a similar
vein to Portugal legend Deco.
“The scouts saw him during the derby
against Sporting Lisbon and he scored.
There looks like there is going to be moves
for him.”
United, of course, have plenty of history
with Portuguese players, having in the
past signed superstar Cristiano Ronaldo,
Nani and, more recently, £20m right-back
Diogo Dalot.
Clubs across Europe are tracking Felix,
including La Liga heavyweights Barcelona
and Real Madrid, while Wolves are also in
the running to sign him thanks to their link-
up with super-agent Jorge Mendes.
